Village Verde, in Sotogrande (Cádiz), is one of the most exclusive luxury residential complexes on the Costa del Sol, located between Marbella and Gibraltar and designed by L35 Architects, an international studio based in Madrid. The concept behind the entire project is built on the idea that architecture and landscape are one and the same, and it is precisely that integration between lifestyle and nature that places it in a category of its own within the Andalusian luxury real estate market. That idea shaped the preproduction of every session, from the construction phases through to completion: treating the residential architecture of the buildings and the landscaping of the complex as a single thing. That interior-exterior connection was present throughout the interiors and real estate photoshoots as well, though with different approaches each time.
The architectural photography photoshoots were organized around a detailed schedule of compositions, angles and timings. I always worked with natural light, using its intensity to define volumes and textures with precision and aesthetic purpose. Indoors, I used several fill flashes to balance the difference in luminosity between inside and outside so that the final exposure of each image allowed both areas to read clearly within the frame.
L35 also provided renders of the most representative areas of the complex, such as the natural sand pool, which I reproduced as faithfully as possible in angle, composition and light to document the transition from the original concept to the built reality. Aerial photography completed the visual coverage of the architectural ensemble and how it sits within the Mediterranean landscape of Cádiz.
Moving into the sessions focused on promoting the complex itself, I varied the framing according to the intended use: wider compositions for the real estate marketing images and more graphic and minimalist for the interior design work. In the lifestyle campaign photoshoots with models, we always kept the space as the protagonist, with the figures - in this case, a family - added to bring scale and a human touch to a project designed for enjoying life with every modern comfort, in close contact with nature.
